Purpose:

This study evaluates the effect of lane markings and signage changes on driver behavior at a two-lane roundabout in Richfield, Minnesota, following a high crash rate after its 2008 completion. Engineers made adjustments to reduce improper turns and lane selection errors, resulting in a 48% reduction in improper turns and a 53% reduction in incorrect lane choices within a month, with sustained improvements after a year.
