Evaluation and Refinement of Minnesota Queue Warning Systems

Purpose:

This study evaluates the MN-QWARN queue warning algorithm at a new freeway location, revealing low detection and high false alarm rates—particularly a 25% detection rate on the right lane and 64% on the left—indicating the need for recalibration to improve performance. High over-warning rates were also observed on both lanes
